Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Collection Specialist with a strong understanding of California lien law to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving delinquent accounts, ensuring timely payments, and protecting our company's financial interests. This role requires proficiency in navigating the complexities of California lien processes and utilizing office productivity tools like Google Sheets for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Collections Management:
- Proactively manage and collect on delinquent accounts through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence.
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with customers while adhering to company policies and legal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all collection activities.
- Monitor account statuses and escalate high-risk accounts as needed.
- California Lien Law Expertise:
- Understand and apply California lien laws (mechanic's liens, stop notices, etc.) to secure payment and protect company assets.
- Prepare and file necessary lien documentation, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and deadlines.
- Research and interpret legal documents and regulations related to lien processes.
- Work with legal counsel as needed regarding lien related issues.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate and analyze aging reports to identify trends and potential collection issues.
- Utilize Google Sheets to track account balances, payment histories, and collection activities.
- Prepare regular reports on collection performance and outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile account discrepancies.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service while addressing payment inquiries and resolving disputes.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers at all times.
- Work to resolve customer issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain organized files and documentation.
- Process payments and update account information.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in collections, preferably with experience in the construction or related industry.
- Strong understanding of California lien law and related procedures.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets and other office productivity tools (Google Docs, Gmail, etc.).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices is a plus.
- Experience with collection software is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $24.41 - $25.72 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
