The Senior Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and develop comprehensive cost projections.
Key Responsibilities:
Review construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates for grading and excavation projects.
Assess material quantities, labor requirements, and equipment costs for various phases of grading, excavation, and site preparation.
Conduct site visits to evaluate conditions and provide input on project feasibility and potential challenges.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive bids and ensure accurate pricing.
Develop detailed bid proposals, including cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment, as well as project timelines.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure estimates align with project scope and budget.
Analyze and track project costs throughout the duration of the project to ensure adherence to the initial estimate.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative methods or materials to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and safety standards when preparing estimates.
Maintain strong communication with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to ensure alignment and address any changes or issues during project execution.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly in grading, excavation, or site development.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards related to grading and excavation.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Proficient in estimating software and tools.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
