Responsibilities For This Position General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Field Support Manager. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense / intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS : Directs the coordination of technical and administrative support activities including installation, repair, preventive maintenance and engineering change upgrades to be performed at client sites. Ensures adequate records and systems are maintained and policies are followed. Manages tactical and strategic operations for assigned Field Support Staff in accordance with schedules and deliverables. Appraises productivity and efficiency of assigned employees by conducting formal QCI / GPS reviews in order to make recommendations on advancement. Schedules personnel responding to critical situations. Maintains communication with design management and specialists in resolving technical problems and / or bringing problems to the design department's attention. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Leads and / or selects Leader of interview teams and trains new employees.
Manages the Field Support staff and function
Plans, directs and monitors activities performed on one or more field service projects
Identifies, assesses and develops plans to attain new and ongoing business opportunities
Develops and presents cost and technical proposals to management and customer personnel
Reviews and controls usage of project funds
Represents the company at program and customer reviews
Interviews job applicants, makes hiring decisions, and recommends salaries commensurate with qualifications
Prepares cost, technical and resources utilization budgets and reports for management review
Develops and conducts training plans for the work force in order to remain competitive Participates in strategy and planning meetings at the division level
Leads process improvement activities
Actively participates in the business development process
Internal Interface : Other Functional Technical Teams, Technical Staff, Executive Management
External Interface : Customers, Military Personnel, Government Dignitaries, External Consultants / Experts
Manages functional area through department managers
Manages managers and / or supervisors
Most work is completed through the management of others
Recognized internally and externally as an expert in their field
May be required to deploy and operate with US Forces in CONUS and OCONUS field locations, to include combat zones
Travel may be required to world-wide non-field locations
Security Clearance may be required
Advanced Security Clearance, up to TS-SCI with Poly, may be require

Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship. Manages activities of two or more sections or departments. Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. In some instances this manager may have subordinate supervisors. Has responsibility for managing people, including performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations.

Substantial knowledge of test and diagnostic equipment
Significant knowledge of basic tool safety
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS : Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Target salary range : USD $149,239.00 / Yr. - USD $161,481.25 / Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
