Litigation Special Counsel – Complex Construction Cases
Location: Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tampa
Our client is seeking an experienced attorney with at least 6 years of litigation experience to join their Litigation Department as Special Counsel in one of the following offices: Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, or Tampa. This is a full-time, non-partner track position supporting the Complex Litigation Construction Practice.
Role Overview:
The attorney in this position will handle complex, multi-party construction defect matters, requiring a high level of autonomy. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, focused, and able to manage a significant caseload independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and litigate construction defect cases involving multiple parties
- Conduct discovery and draft substantive dispositive motions
- Handle substantial deposition work and assist with trial or evidentiary hearings
- Represent clients in courtrooms or arbitration settings
- Understand and address insurance risk transfer issues for property damage claims
Qualifications:
- At least 6 years of litigation experience, specifically in construction law or related complex matters
- Significant courtroom or arbitration experience
- Proven ability to manage and conduct discovery, prepare motions, and handle depositions
- Experience with trial or evidentiary hearings
- Baseline knowledge of insurance risk transfer issues related to property damage claims
- Strong oratory, legal research, and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active member of the Florida Bar in good standing
- Board Certification in Construction Law by the Florida Bar (preferred)
