Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Medical Transcriptionist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for transcribing medical reports and documentation from healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medical terminology and standards. Your expertise in physiology, anatomy, and medical office procedures will be essential in producing high-quality transcripts that support patient care.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Transcription of miscellaneous reports and correspondence as requested.
- Release laboratory reports and material to a patient or patient representative after proper written authorization and verification of identity has been established.
- Maintains a good working relationship with clients. Collaborates with other departments for improved outcomes. Maintains a clean working environment.
- Follows laboratory safety guidelines, including OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Participation in annual TOPA competency assessment.
- Attend staff meetings. Participate in TOPA in-service training, when applicable.
- Has read and understands the content of pertinent procedure manuals.
- Demonstrates flexibility to adjust to the uneven workflow and changing priorities of the TOPA administrative office.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor while on duty; actively and consistently promotes a cooperative work atmosphere; maintains an awareness of the needs of other laboratory employees with respect to workload activities and seeks to assist others whenever appropriate.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
- Proven experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent typing skills with a focus on speed and accuracy.
- Ability to transcribe complex medical information clearly and concisely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free work.
- Proficiency in using transcription software and other relevant technology is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with healthcare professionals.
