Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose any medical conditions.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as prescribed.
- Perform surgical procedures and assist in emergency care when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Provide guidance on animal husbandry practices and behavioral training.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the state.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and handling various species, including equine if applicable.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to diagnostics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
