What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Prep Math Teacher/Computer Science - Middle School position at Topeka Center for Advanced Learning & Careers (TCALC)?
To be considered for a teaching position with the Topeka Public Schools, you must possess a current Kansas teaching license and be certified to teach in the area you are applying for at the time of appointment.
Reports To: Building Administrator
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the Kansas State Department of Education certification requirements for teaching Math. High school certification is preferred. Good communication, consultation, and team building skills are also important. Candidate should be able to share evidence of high academic performance through student standardized assessments for classes the candidate has taught. Project Lead the way training will be provided.
Physical/Emotional Requirements:
The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the working day: speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to work with a variety of problems at the same time, stamina for working long hours and in stress-producing environments.
Performance Responsibilities: The person will participate in lesson design, formative assessment development, professional development, and overall department planning. Duties include:
- Lesson planning
- Project Lead the way/ Computer Science
- Assisting in the selection and approval of instructional materials, supplies and equipment
- Student instruction
- Maintaining accurate records
- Assisting with curriculum revision when appropriate
- Supervising students in common areas of the building
- Communicating effectively with administrators, parents, and staff
- Assisting with school events
- Supporting the mission of Topeka Public Schools
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Terms of Employment:
12 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of professional certified personnel.
