What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Design Manager position at Topiderm, Inc.?
The Production Design Manager oversees the daily production and design goals of the department, as they pertain to the company’s productivity goals.
The manager overseas all in house production and prepress design and works closely with the creative design department to make sure that deadlines are met. This role is does not oversea creative Design for the Topix brands however there is an element of creativity to the production design managed. Therefor, the Manager must also posses a understanding of good design practices.
This role works closely with the Sales and Operations teams to make sure private label Designs and orders and handled efficiently and timely.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Monitor reports for staff productivity and project tracking
- Work with creative design for production support for key accounts including the house brand
- Lead, train and monitor all department staff using procedures, policies and reinforcement
- Monitor and report on new business projects and order flow through department daily
- Liaison between various internal departments, promoting for open communication and synergy
- Maintain extensive design elements library and ensure that staff is able to use in the most efficient manner
- Ensure a creative, yet consistent, look and feel that adheres to company or client brand
- Continuously develop and build department services with new ideas and greater efficiencies of current services
- Benchmark best practices to develop and implement business processes and procedures which will increase productivity and enhance coordination of projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organization with demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast paced, print production environment
- Self-motivated with strong ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team
- Must keep current of developments in graphic design field
- Must have solid understanding of design, typography, color, composition and art direction
- Effective communication/comprehension skills – verbal and written
- Ability to learn new skills and related tasks, dependable and punctual
- Hard working, with the ability to function independently and as part of a team
- Previous print industry experience a plus
- Must have strong management, planning and leadership skills
- Proven track record of leading a design team
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems and meet deadlines
- Creative, team motivator with ability to work in fast paced production environment
REQUIRED
- Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent work experience
- Continuing education or degree in management a plus
- Minimum of 2 years experience in management
- Experience working in a creative agency or in-house creative environment a plus
- Pharmaceutical production design experience a plus
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications including: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Must be able to demonstrate ability.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including: Word and Excel.
