Bakery Clerk (Part-Time or Full-Time)

Tops Marketplace in Plantsville, CT is seeking a part-time, Bakery Clerk (16-24 hours) to be responsible for proof and bake products, thaw and merchandise products, merchandising in general, and cake finishing. Schedule is mornings from (7am-2 or 3pm) during the week and must be able to work every other weekend. Hourly rate $16.35 -$17 based on experience. MUST be able to lift heavy boxes ( 40lbs) and work in extreme temperatures (i.e. freezer and oven). References will be checked. Must be 18 or older.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare items to be proof and baked using oven racks, trays, and/or other equipment
· Package and price baked goods, including cookies, pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, and other items as needed
· Unpack and price goods from the freezer. Display proper amounts based on seasonal sales
· Writes messages on cakes using pastry bags and tips; decorate cupcakes as needed
· Rotate and store bakery products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling
· Maintain all cleaning and safety standards
· Merchandise products in innovative and eye-appealing ways to drive sales
· Recognize seasonal holiday and weather effects on product sales, being sure to maintain a constant flow of these products going out on the shelves.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Must have high school diploma or GED
Must have drivers license with dependable transportation
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Prior experience working in a bakery required
· Possess a solid work ethic and be accountable for offering the highest quality of service to customers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· MUST be able to lift and/or move up to 40lbs in freezer
· MUST be able to work in cold/freezing temperatures and in hot temperatures
· Primarily a standing position where an employee will be required to stand in one place
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.35 - $17.00 per hour
