Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Job Cost Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This non-exempt role reports directly to the Senior Cost Accountant and is based out of our West Springfield, MA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and track costs related to construction projects, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and other job-specific expenses
- Support monthly project reviews in collaboration with Project Managers
- Post monthly job accruals and contribute to Work in Progress (WIP) reviews
- Assist with capital expenditure budgeting and the annual plant budgeting process
- Prepare and deliver cost analysis reports for management
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements
- Travel up to 10-15% may be required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, or equivalent work experience
- 3–5 years of general accounting experience including payroll, AP, or AR (internal candidates may be considered with less)
- Strong grasp of cost accounting principles; construction industry experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with Vista (Viewpoint) software is a plus
- High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
Work Environment
The noise level varies from moderate in office settings to loud at occasional field locations.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and communicate effectively. Occasional bending, kneeling, or lifting up to 10 pounds may be required.
