New York Water Tours, part of the TopView group, runs sightseeing, dining, experiential and special event cruises in New York City. As we experience this exceptional growth, we are seeking a dynamic and skilled Entertainment Manager to lead all aspects of the entertainment functions on our tours. The ideal candidate will be a creative and resourceful individual, with excellent people and project management skills, and with a knack to get things done from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of the Entertainment department, comprising tour guides, actors, entertainers, etc.
- Take the lead in developing unique, innovative, and relevant content for a variety of tours, including but not limited to scripting, choreography, decor and event timeline
- Manage inventory and procurement of costumes, uniforms, props, and various supplies needed for different themed tours
- Conduct random walkthroughs of various tours to ensure all technology, guides, and facilities are up to par
- Manage scheduling, performance management, auditing, and payroll functions for the team members
- Design and execute an audition and recruitment strategy to meet the ongoing needs and new demands of the business
- Continually analyze processes and systems, and develop strategies for improving future results
- Collaborate with other functional departments to understand mutual needs and deadlines and ensure the team delivers on these demands
- Responsible for the entertainment operations for any public, private, and special events
- Motivate team members to exceed performance goals through training, mentoring, competitions, and creative incentives
- Responsible for ensuring high-end service and customer satisfaction by holding the actors accountable
- Keep track of weekly inventory reports of food, beverage, costume, giveaways, and equipment
- Stay informed on industry trends and make suggestions to ownership about new trends, and potential new revenue streams
- Respond to daily operational developments and emergencies.
- Serve as a source of knowledge to both employees and customers.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in designing various themed presentations, including script writing, choreography, decor, etc.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of full-time and part-time performers
- Ability to establish priorities, manage workload, and respond with a sense of urgency in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Proven ability in performing root cause analysis and presenting logical conclusions
- Openness to work flexible (including weekends) and extended hours, as needed and be available to respond to situations
- Strong data analysis skills including but not limited to workforce planning, scheduling, resource allocation, financial planning etc.
- Experience with various productivity, project management and financial suites like Google Workspace, MSOffice, Monday.com, ClickUp.com, SAP, Netsuite etc.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience negotiating with vendors on price, quality and payment terms
- Experience as a performer (desired)
- Work schedule is 50 hours a week; must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Work location: Midtown, NYC; valid driver’s license required.
