Middle School Math/Science Teacher - Torah Academy (boys)

We are currently seeking a part time middle school math & science teacher for our boys division to engage, stimulate curiosity, and develop an appreciation for both fields of study. This role is ideal for someone with a full time teaching position who is looking for some extra work, a current graduate student in either education, math, or science, or a recently retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind! Responsibilities include Create a warm, caring, and safe environment  Students are at the heart of what we do. When they know that they are cared for, students come ready to learn. This includes building nurturing relationships with students and providing age-appropriate levels of student supervision, classroom rules, and routines. Create and implement lesson plans  You will be responsible for teaching middle school math and science to all boys classes. We provide curriculum materials; you provide the pedagogical practices to bring it to life. Your creativity will shine in the activities you plan to engage student interest in the content. Our curriculum is aligned with Massachusetts state standards. Monitor and communicate student progress  Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Hours: This is a part time position teaching up to 4 classes Mondays-Thursdays between the hours of 12:30-4:00 p.m. Salary: $8,000-$9,000 per course, up to 4 courses depending on interest and availability Benefits:  We believe in continuous learning and back that up with extensive professional  development, growth, and advancement opportunities for our staff. About Torah Academy Torah Academy is a preK-8 school that has been in the Boston area for 40 years. We foster a supportive professional environment, including extensive professional development, growth, and advancement opportunities. Our students spend the mornings studying and celebrating Kodesh, including Hebrew, Torah, and Jewish laws and customs. In the afternoons students engage in general studies according to their grade level. Because of the intense nature of the morning curriculum our students are pretty sophisticated in their thinking. We are seeking general studies teachers to match that level of rigor in their content areas. Our general studies curriculum is modeled after the public school frameworks, so familiarity with grade level secular academic expectations is a big plus. Torah Academy contains a boys division and a girls division; students are separated by gender starting in first grade.

Salary : $8,000 - $9,000
