Key Responsibilities:
- System Operations: Oversee and maintain the operation of Windows-based computer systems, working closely with system and network administration teams as well as program personnel.
- Security & Configuration Management: Implement, manage, and enforce Group Policies and other security configurations within Active Directory environments.
- System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Review Windows Event Logs and Registry settings to troubleshoot installation issues and identify system discrepancies.
- Networking Support: Provide support for network configurations, troubleshooting, and management of Cisco IOS devices and networking environments via the Cisco command line interface.
- M&S System Administration: Manage the day-to-day operations of hardware and software for modeling and simulation (M&S) systems, ensuring smooth functionality and high availability.
- Maintenance & Operations: Provide hands-on system administration support, performing ongoing system maintenance and operational activities.
- Software & Hardware Enhancement: Assist in the building, configuring, and troubleshooting of software and hardware upgrades, application deployments, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Incident Response & Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve computer, server, and network system issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring system reliability.
- Status Reporting: Continuously communicate system status and updates to ensure compliance with lab specifications and operational requirements.
- Collaboration: Foster clear communication and alignment between government and contractor teams to ensure consistent technical direction and understanding.
- IT Architecture & Strategy: Support high-level IT architecture decisions and development activities, ensuring that best practices and standards are followed across all M&S products.
- Security Remediation: Review ACAS vulnerability findings and apply necessary operating system and software patches as part of an ongoing remediation effort.
- PowerShell Scripting & Automation: Develop and deploy Windows PowerShell scripts to automate system management tasks, software deployment, and other administrative utilities.
- Daily Operations Support: Provide consistent, daily operational support (five days a week) for development and operational assets.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant Science field with 10 years of professional experience in systems administration.
- Certifications:
- Active CompTIA Security certification.
- Active CompTIA A certification.
- Active Security Clearance is required.
- System & Network Knowledge:
- Strong proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Windows-based computers and network equipment.
- Extensive experience with Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2019 or newer systems.
- Deep familiarity with Active Directory administration.
- Knowledge of virtualized environments such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals and switch configurations.
- Scripting & Automation: Expertise in Windows PowerShell scripting for task automation and system administration.
- DoD Compliance: Must meet the experience, training, and certification requirements for DoD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security CE or higher).
- Communication & Documentation: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in documenting processes and providing end-user training.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant Science field with 20 years of professional experience in systems administration.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: In-depth experience using advanced Windows troubleshooting techniques within a large-scale enterprise network.
- PowerShell Expertise: Extensive experience utilizing Windows PowerShell for system administration within an enterprise environment.
- Performance & Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of application performance optimization, Windows operating system internals, and network infrastructure concepts.
- MDA Experience: Prior experience with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or related Missile Defense System elements, or similar systems engineering environments .
