Job Description

Torch Technologies Inc., is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support the IT Department.  Duties include planning, designing, evaluating, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software related to the local and wide area network systems.  Additional duties include providing general support on issues not resolved by other support teams.  Must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate technical issues in-person, over telephone, or through electronic communications.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and documentation of corporate, lab, storage and telecommunication systems and networks; its associated equipment, devices, and software.
• Responsible for the administration, operation, and maintenance of the network access control (NAC) system.
• Interact regularly with executive leadership, users, vendors, and other technical professionals to field questions, determine requirements, and ultimately provide unique solutions for current business requirements.
• Participate in projects and team assignments; as well as manage day-to-day activities through a ticket system.
• Create and maintain documentation, network diagrams, policies, and procedures for existing configurations.
• Monitor, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of related network engineering experience.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and various topics such as access control lists, cloud computing, BGP, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, network access control, OSPF, proxies, SD-Wan, trunks, VLANs, VOIP, VPN, VTC, and wireless.
• Ability to perform network design and implementation.
• Experience with network monitoring and analytics tools.
• Experience with virtualized computing environments and virtual networks.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of customer service.
• Solid organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds.
• Occasional travel is required.

 

Desired but not required:

• DoD 8570 IAT Certifications (network or security)

Eligibility:

Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
