Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and innovative Software Engineer to join our team in the support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Office (DES) team. This role involves developing and maintaining advanced software tools aimed at enhancing analysis, productivity, and data management. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize solutions that drive operational efficiency and improve user experience. In this role, the Software Engineer will leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance software development efficiency and quality. In this role, you will integrate AI-driven solutions into the development process, using tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and automated code generation frameworks to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and deployment.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize AI-powered development tools to enhance software design, coding, and debugging.
• Develop, test, and deploy software solutions while leveraging AI for code suggestions and optimizations.
• Automate repetitive development tasks using AI-driven coding assistants.
• Integrate AI-enhanced analytics for performance monitoring and debugging.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to improve AI-assisted workflows.
• Stay updated with the latest AI-assisted development tools and best practices.
• Ensure AI-driven code adheres to best practices, security standards, and performance benchmarks.
• Experiment with AI-driven test automation frameworks to improve software reliability. Develop and maintain software tools for analysis, productivity improvement, and data management.
• Administer and customize Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint for efficient project and content management.
• Design and develop applications and user interfaces with a focus on usability and user experience.
• Create and optimize process workflows to streamline operations.
• Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Participates in and presents findings at working group meetings, coordination meetings, peer reviews, and other technical interchange meetings.
• Design, develop, and build functional SharePoint sites that are easy to use and user friendly by collaborating with staff on layout, design, build, and implementation.
• Update site content to keep pages up to date as required.
• Experienced with System Engineering Process; collecting and developing requirements to ensure collaborative activity, permissions, workflows, and site configurations are implemented cohesively within the software development environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement software solutions that support MDA initiatives.
• Develop, test, and maintain software applications using various programming languages.
• Assist in the development of Plug-Ins and end-user interfaces (HMI/API development).
• Utilize UML and/or SysML in software design and documentation.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years applicable software engineering experience.
• Experience using AI-powered coding tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Tabnine.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Ability to work in an agile development environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to experiment with AI-driven development. Proven experience with Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
• Experience in user interface design and process workflow design.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience working with both development staff and end users.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenAI APIs.
• Experience with programming languages and frameworks including UML, C , C#, JSON, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, GIT lab, SQL, EF OO Framework, REACT, REDUX, Google Web Toolkit, Sonar Cube, PowerBI, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT.
