What are the responsibilities and job description for the Major League Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Rogers Blue Jays Baseball Partnership, Dunedin, FL) position at Toronto Blue Jays?
Lead and deliver all sports science initiatives within Major League Environment; Lead delivery of athlete monitoring program; Create and Lead pitcher workload management system and profile information appropriate for communication with players and coaching staff using experience with R and VBA programing language; Create objective individual programming for player strength and conditioning; Collaborate with major league pitching coaches to assist with any physical aspects of mechanics or delivery goals; Assist with rehabilitation reconditioning and return to play progressions in Major League environment; Work as part of interdisciplinary team incorporating Head of Strength and Conditioning, Head of Athletic Training, Head of Mental Performance and Head of Nutrition; Collaborate with Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to develop and deliver Strength and Conditioning programming to all affiliate teams (Toronto, Buffalo, New Hampshire, Dunedin, Vancouver, and FDL); Develop, implement, and monitor individualized player preparation and recovery routines based upon assessment results; Organize and oversee Major League Spring Training player movement assessments and performance testing.
Must have experience with the following in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks: Experience with force plates, catapult gps systems, and whoop HRV methodologies; Knowledge of positional demands, force plate profile, functional movement screen, y balance testing, and other sports science including nord bord, grip testing and SFMA assessments; Experience with baseball-related physical rehabilitation; Experience with data sharing athlete management systems; Experience with advanced FMS corrective strategies/screenings and NSCA testing protocols.
Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Sports Science, Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education or related field and at least four years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator or related role. Certifications required: NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), Functional Movements Systems Certification (FMS-Level 1), USAW-Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, and CPR Certification.
