About the Role
A leading commercial general contractor based in Apopka, FL, is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will play a pivotal part in managing the accounting and finance functions of the organization, with a focus on financial reporting, job costing, and accounts management. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, generate financial statements, and support the annual audit process.
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, monitoring payments, and providing client/vendor support.
- Handle accounts payable, including processing invoices, generating checks, and managing year-end 1099s.
- Support month-end closing processes and assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to manage construction project budgets, vendor records (COI/W9), and facilitate lien waivers and NTO processes.
- Generate invoices and pay applications for clients and vendors/subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and maintain strong internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or engineering industries.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems or accounting software (experience with Sage 100 preferred).
- Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with MS Project is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
