SPECIAL DAY CLASS TEACHER
(SPECIAL EDUCATION)
ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP
Directly responsible to the building principal.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Provide instruction and services for handicapped students who have been identified in an Individualized Education Program and are assigned to a special day class.
2.Attend placement/IEP meetings for students who may need the program services of a special day class.
3.Participate in academic testing.
4.Coordinate special education services with the regular school programs to provide students’ mainstreaming opportunities.
5.Monitor student’s progress, coordinate the review and revision of their Individualized Education Programs, and refer students to the IEP team, if appropriate.
6.Consult with appropriate teachers and administrators for the development of prevocational and/or vocational plans for handicapped students.
7.Coordinate and monitor the activities of paraprofessional instructional personnel assigned.
8.Provide information and assistance to students and to their parents.
9.Attend and participate in school faculty meetings, special education staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
10.Maintain professional competence through participation, as directed in inservice activities provided by the District.
11.Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1.Knowledge of:Techniques and resources utilized in assessing, instructing, and evaluating students.
Diagnostic needs, behavioral techniques and appropriate learning materials for classroom use.
Developing cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
2.Education:Possession of a valid regular teaching credential and a clear Special Education Learning Handicapped credential.
RESOURCE SPECIALIST TEACHER

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP
Directly responsible to the building principal.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Provide instruction and services for handicapped students who have been identified in an Individualized Education Program and are assigned to regular classrooms.
2.Coordinate the referral, assessment and placement procedures for students referred to the Resource Specialist Program.
3.Participate in academic testing.
4.Coordinate special education services with the regular school programs.
5.Provide consultation and assistance to regular classroom teachers.
6.Monitor student’s progress, coordinate the review and revision of their individualized education programs, and refer students to the individualized education program team.
7.Consult with appropriate teachers and administrators for the development of prevocational and/or vocational plans for handicapped students.
8.Coordinate and monitor the activities of paraprofessional instructional personnel assigned.
9.Provide information and assistance to students and to their parents.
10.Provide consultation, resource information, and educational material to student’s parents, and to regular teachers.
11.Coordinate inservice sessions and workshops for teachers and parents.
12.Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

2.Education:Possession of a valid regular teaching credential, a clear Special Education Learning Handicapped credential, and a valid resource specialist certificate.
3.Experience:Three or more years of teaching experience, including both regular and special education teaching.
4.Other:Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license.
Salary : $61,395 - $121,089
