Job Summary
The Torrance Unified School District is recruiting for our Dual Immersion Program and haS openings for a Multiple Subject teacher with a BCLAD in Spanish or BASP for the 2025-2026 school year. Utilizing a 90 / 10 model with an equal number of Native English and Native Spanish speakers, we are seeking a teacher motivated to teach, participate in professional development, and be a partner in co-creating our curricular program to help students on their pathway towards biliteracy. Teachers will work directly with small groups of English-only and Dual Language Immersion students to implement the school intervention program in either ELA or Math.
Job Description / Essential Elements :
CLASSROOM TEACHER
ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP
Directly responsible to school principal or designee.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide planned instruction in each subject assigned to teach.
2. Follow course of study specified in state law and school district regulations.
3. Provide learning experiences to encourage maximum growth for each student.
4. Select and use appropriate materials available in the district for students and subjects assigned.
5. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and communicate with parents and staff on the individual pupil's progress.
6. Identify pupil needs and consult with other professional staff records, in assessing and helping pupils solve health, behavioral, and learning problems.
7. Maintain basic student records as required.
8. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
9. Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and / or self-selected professional growth activities.
10. Maintain professional relationships with students, with colleagues, and between school and home.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MANAGEMENT OF LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND CONTROL
1. Establish a standard of classroom control that allows effective learning to take place.
2. Promote a classroom environment that is conducive to the growth of student responsibility and self-control.
3. Encourage an atmosphere that stimulates inquiry, self-expression, and individual growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OTHER DUTIES
1. Share equally, insofar as possible, in the supervision of pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the working day.
2. Share equally, insofar as possible, in faculty responsibilities during the working day.
3. Share in the supervision and / or sponsorship of student activities in terms of teacher interests and school needs.
4. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and / or on a district level.
5. Perform business services as required.
6. Participate in community-school relations.
Requirements / Qualifications
Must possess a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with BCLAD (Spanish) or BASP or English Learner Authorization. CBEST (or other qualifying basic skills requirement as outlined by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing) is required.
