JOB TITLE: Grants Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Grants
FLSA STATUS: N on-Exempt
Salary: $24.84 per hour non-negotiable
SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Grants Administrator (“Supervisor”) this position will primarily be responsible to independently assist by performing a wide range of complex and specialized assignments involved in grants management, policy, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following
- Relieve the supervisor of a variety of clerical and administrative tasks
- Establish and maintain an infrastructure for funding opportunities
- Seek funding resources internally and externally
- Draft reports on grant funding
- Meet with Tribal entities to coordinate grant management
- Maintain official communication with funding agencies
- Report grant objectives and budgets
- Audit reports submitted by Tribal entities
Provide grant management training to employees

- Attend meetings
- Attend mandatory trainings
- Attend Tribal and public functions
- Travel as required to perform duties

K NOWLEDGE OF:
- Grant application process
- OMB Super Circular
- Government grant contracts and agreements
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, with attention to detail required
Previous experience in database management, preferred.

- Apply cultural sensitivity to cultural relevant programming, primarily Native American
- Demonstrate leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, and decision making
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Apply excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical, budgetary, and grants administration details to staff, donors, grantees, and members
- Operate standard office equipment including a computer and assigned software

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. For a high school diploma/GED equivalency, a ratio of 1:1 will be used for applicants with less than a high school diploma/GED. This means that one year of paid full-time work experience equals one year of high school education.
High school diploma or equivalency certificate a and three (3) years' related training and/or experience to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities of the job. OR
An applicant that has completed an 8th grade education will need to have 4 (four) years of full-time work experience to substitute for the required high school diploma/GED and three (3) years' related training and/or experience to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at a time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registration are to be covered by employee, unless offered by the Tribe.
