Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to: Quality Assurance Supervisor
Department: Quality Assurance
Position Overview:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products meet Tortilla Kings quality and safety standards. This role involves monitoring production processes, maintaining accurate records, performing lab tests, and training plant personnel on quality procedures. The QA Technician plays a critical role in upholding compliance with HACCP, GMP, and company policies to ensure food safety and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a general knowledge of all products manufactured by Tortilla King.
Regularly monitor product quality and packaging across all production lines.
Verify that control points and critical control points (CCPs) are properly monitored and documented.
Conduct lab testing of products as required, ensuring all documentation is accurate.
Check-in raw materials and packaging from vendors, verifying proper paperwork completion.
Print and verify labels for production and warehouse needs.
Maintain and troubleshoot code daters, including ink and solvent usage.
Train plant personnel on quality procedures and best practices.
Adhere to and enforce company GMP policies and QA Manual procedures.
Participate as an automatic member of the Food Safety Committee.
Identify, report, and take action on food safety and quality concerns, including notifying SQF Practitioners when necessary.
Ensure all quality documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
Support the continuous improvement of quality standards and company policies.
Attend off-site training seminars as needed to enhance job knowledge.
Work collaboratively with coworkers, line operators, and supervisors to maintain high standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in various conditions, including cold, hot, or humid environments.
Standing for extended periods and occasional lifting may be required.
Backup Support:
Other QA Technicians will be trained to serve as backups for this role.
The QA Supervisor and QA Lab Technician may also provide coverage as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience: Previous experience in a quality assurance role in a food production environment is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to perform basic math calculations, including measurements, addition, and subtraction.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Attention to Detail: Highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with coworkers, line operators, and supervisors.
Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Compliance & Safety: Ability to pass the companys GMP quiz and adhere to food safety regulations.
