Summary

Business Development Manager – Technical Products is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, deployment, revenue growth and profitability of products across a global customer base.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop assessment of market and customer demand for goods, product specifications, product performance, service level requirements and future needs
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability of global customers by delivering Tosoh’s capabilities, strengths, and strategy
  • Analyze customer product roadmap, how that roadmap fits with Tosoh’s portfolio and strategy, and generate actions to close gaps
  • Identify competitor strengths and weaknesses and develop Tosoh strategy to obtain more business
  • Analyze customer profitability, cash flow and overall business impact, and generate actions to improve
  • Negotiate sales terms and conditions, purchase contracts, pricing, and service level agreements
  • Develop and present Tosoh product presentations, advertising media and branding
  • Lead customer Technical Review Meetings (TRM’s) with Tosoh NPD
  • Support Field Sales team with strategy, product training, customer presentations and marketing collaterals
  • Work with NPD, Procurement, Sales and Manufacturing to fulfill customer needs
  • Assist Technical Support and Quality teams on issues, evaluations, presentations, and meetings
  • Control communication / messaging between Tosoh and customer
  • Other related duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Engineering or Marketing (advanced degree in materials science and/or MBA preferred)
  • Previous experience with global customer engagements required
  • 5 years of experience with technical products required
  • Direct experience in semiconductor PVD applications preferred

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with or understanding of thin film processes (semiconductor, FPD, solar) and/or PVD systems strongly desired
  • Ability to research and analyze materials markets, issues, and trends
  • Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to quickly and effectively assess, evaluate and communicate market opportunities, customer requirements, competitive issues, and business performance
  • Ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts for global customer requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage >$30MM in business revenue
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate across organizational and cultural boundaries
  • Excellent internal and external ambassador for products and programs
  • Ability to effectively motivate, facilitate, and direct the activities of individuals and project teams not directly reporting to this position
  • Excellent organizational and resource management skills
  • Ability to travel on a frequent and extended basis, domestically and internationally, sometimes with little advance notice up to 20%

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for brief periods of time.
