Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and materials laboratory located in Grove City, OH manages the entire life cycle of all our products including supply chain development, research and development, manufacturing, testing and distribution.
The Chemist measures production samples and prepares new methods and procedures in the analytical laboratory. The Chemist works to keep a clean work area.
This is a 2nd shift position with working hours of 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Measures samples utilizing any of the following equipment:
- LECO gas analysis equipment.
- X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) equipment.
- Atomic Absorption (AA) equipment.
- Inductively Couples Plasma (ICP) emission equipment.
- Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) equipment.
• Measures surface roughness using an Interferometer.
• Measures resistivity using a four-point probe.
• Measures density of solid materials using the wet density apparatus.
• Prepares analytical samples in the analytical laboratory.
• Develops new methods and procedures.
• Works with equipment technical support teams to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Understands and adheres to all safety requirements. Communicates identified risks to leadership and assists in resolution.
• Completes all 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) standards to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Contributes to culture through alignment with company values and code of conduct. Maintains a positive attitude, displays enthusiasm for assigned tasks, and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
• Other related duties.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field or equivalent experience.
Skills and Qualifications
• Experience with analytical equipment (e.g. LECO, XRF, AA, ICP, Mass Spectrometers or equivalent).
• Computer literate – must be comfortable using computers and able to learn new software packages.
• Must pay good attention to detail, be well organized and have an ability to organize own work schedule based on the work to be done.
• Willing to work with acids, solvents, compressed gases and liquid nitrogen.
• Ability to communicate well with people inside and outside the immediate work area.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as defined by process.
