The Engineer II applies advanced knowledge of a specific technical subject matter to support TSMD’s technical teams with testing, process and project development, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
Quality and Environmental Health & Safety |
The Quality and EHS teams support all operations across TSMD and its subsidiaries with quality, safety, and environmental support, to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement to internal and external requirements. Technicians in the Quality and EHS teams, position-dependent, coordinate and perform calibrations, support safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects, and provide shop-floor quality systems support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities |
- Applies advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a specific technical area.
- Leads projects as assigned by engineering manager and identifies project opportunities independently that align with goals and metrics.
- Documents work effectively and presents results to internal and external cross functional groups.
- Develops and maintains procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support technical area.
- Leads cross functional teams on projects and initiatives.
- Applies problem solving, SPC, and other engineering fundamentals to support investigations.
- Identifies and drives continuous improvement projects, drives safety and environmental improvements.
- Supports onboarding and training of engineering interns, technicians, and Engineer I personnel.
- Supports technical discussions with suppliers and customers in specific technical area of focus.
- Understands and adheres to all safety requirements. Communicates identified risks to leadership and assists in resolution.
- Completes all 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) standards to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Contributes to culture through alignment with company values and code of conduct. Maintains a positive attitude, displays enthusiasm for assigned tasks, and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
- Perform supplier-facing quality engineering activities, in support of TSMD quality requirements, and ensure proper flow-down of TSMD and customer requirements to our suppliers and sub-suppliers.
- Work as a hands-on Quality Engineer with the TSMD supply chain.
- Utilize SPC to establish supplier process control and monitor process capability. Interface with cross-functional groups to improve incoming product quality.
- Support supplier assessment process planning and implementation with supplier capability assessments, pre- and post-award reviews, process assessments, and quality planning activities related to suppliers. Coordinate and lead supplier audits and scorecards.
- Participate with procurement and engineering in supplier risk assessments and the development of mitigation plans to reduce, eliminate, and prevent supplier product defects.
- Lead containment activities associated with non-conforming material, with assistance from the functional stakeholders including procurement, process engineering, and production by initiating supplier corrective action process. Review, approval and monitoring, and root cause corrective action is obtained via the proper use of 8D, 5Why, and fishbone problem solving activities.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive process improvement activities into the supply chain through defect data analysis, process capability reviews, specification refresh activities, and utilizing Lean and Six Sigma quality methodologies with the creation of supplier improvement plans.

Education |
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field or equivalent.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Skills and Qualifications |
- Advanced knowledge of technical focus area.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated competence in structured problem solving, SPC, lean principles, and FMEA.
- Computer literacy required.
Physical Requirements |
- Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as defined by process.
