Sustaining Engineer
Location : Aurora, OR
Type : Full-Time, Onsite
Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
About the Role
Take on the exciting challenge of improving and sustaining innovative aviation products! As a Sustaining Engineer , you’ll focus on optimizing existing aircraft designs and manufacturing processes to ensure exceptional quality, performance, and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve complex challenges, and play a key role in driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Problem-Solving and Quality Assurance
- Identify, analyze, and resolve design and manufacturing issues to ensure high-quality production.
- Evaluate non-conforming parts and processes, maintaining compliance with rigorous industry standards.
Materials and Testing
Assess and replace obsolete materials and components, ensuring high performance and quality.Develop and execute validation test programs adhering to industry standards (Military, SAE, RTCA DO-160).Collaborate on internal and external testing efforts and document results thoroughly.Engineering Analysis and Support
Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses to validate design functionality.Perform MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) calculations for legacy and updated components.Prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with regulatory authorities and customers.Collaboration and Training
Support cross-functional teams and resolve 8D investigations to enhance quality and production efficiency.Train production associates and mentor interns and new engineers on best practices.Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred candidates will have hands-on experience).Technical Skills
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering prints, GD&T, routings, and bills of materials.Familiarity with aerospace standards and specifications (MIL, SAE, RTCA, EN).Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical properties of engineering materials.Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and testing processes, including tooling and equipment.Additional Skills
Strong analytical skills for data collection and problem-solving.Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma tools, and 8D methodologies.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to estimate costs for components, assemblies, and tooling.Work Environment
