SUMMARY :

We are seeking an Energy Engineer to join our Dynamiq Team. This position is responsible for energy reduction and analysis, providing engineering / technical oversight for projects, and upholding relationships and promises with customers. The Energy Engineer will assist customers and internal sales staff in developing and finding solutions for complex problems.

ENERGY ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead development of measurement and verification plans for our customers
  • Managing client energy programs as assigned, including client interface, energy assessments, and program development of ECMs
  • Obtaining and analyzing historic site energy consumption and site information necessary to support the sales process by estimating potential savings
  • Coordination of information and activities between our client, site teams, vendors, and Service Technicians
  • Helping as needed to the Service team on opportunities involving energy conservation measures, portfolio energy management, smart buildings, alternative energy strategies, energy and building automation systems audits
  • Review of system operations reports to ensure that systems are functioning properly and efficiently i.e., not wasting energy by running redundant equipment when not required as well as other energy waste activities
  • Building certification / validation for buildings when requested
  • Performs or provides review on a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects
  • Manage team project assignments as required

ENERGY ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Good understanding of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)
  • Ability to calculate energy savings for a variety of equipment and project types
  • Define test plans to prove required reliability metrics
  • Analyze datasets to provide insights on energy conservation
  • Perform root cause analysis of energy waste within mechanical systems
  • Collaborate in finding solutions to reduce energy usage and waste
  • Conduct field assessments and audits, visiting sites and analyzing facilities to audit the energy systems in place and to offer improvement suggestions
  • Work with teammates and customers to analyze energy data to determine cost savings measures
  • General understanding of the current energy market as well as knowledge of the relevant legislation around energy efficiency, carbon emissions, and how to implement efficient systems that are compliant with legal standards
  • A minimum of three (3) years related work experience in a design, consulting, or ESCO environment
  • Background in MEP Design is a plus
  • GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-starter, ability to be both an individual contributor as well as a mentor of entry level employees
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems
  • Organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization
  • Good knowledge in Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project, and Power BI
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, listening effectively and soliciting input from others
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards : ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, UL, etc.
  • Knowledge of general job site safety practices and standards
  • ENERGY ENGINEER EDUCATION AND LICENCING / CERTIFICATION REQUIRMENTS :

  • Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering or another related field
  • CEM or similar certification
  • EIT required, PE preferred
  • WORK / LIFE

    We have a really good work life balance! You will travel locally using your own vehicle, along with out-of-town travel for sales meetings, training opportunities and conferences. Don't worry, we are paying for your gas for your traveling. You will work safely when outside of the normal office setting, and adheres to the safety measures of client sites, including using personal protective equipment, if required.
