Position Overview: The Privacy Litigation Attorney will be responsible for managing and representing clients in litigation related to privacy laws, including data breaches, privacy violations, and regulatory compliance. The role involves both strategic legal counsel and courtroom representation in cases involving the misuse of personal data, breaches of confidentiality, and other privacy-related claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management: Handle all phases of privacy-related litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal.
- Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research on privacy laws, regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and case law to provide sound legal advice.
- Client Representation: Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediation, and settlement negotiations, with a focus on privacy and data security issues.
- Drafting & Filing Documents: Prepare and file legal briefs, motions, discovery requests, and responses in privacy-related lawsuits.
- Risk Assessment & Legal Strategy: Advise clients on legal strategies to manage privacy risks, including implementing privacy policies, managing data breaches, and complying with applicable laws.
- Regulatory Compliance: Advise on compliance with privacy laws and regulations, including industry-specific requirements.
- Collaborative Work: Work closely with other legal professionals, external counsel, and internal teams (e.g., cybersecurity experts, compliance officers) to build robust cases.
- Case Settlement & Negotiation: Engage in settlement negotiations on behalf of clients, with the goal of resolving disputes efficiently and effectively.
- Client Counseling: Provide ongoing legal guidance to clients regarding their rights, obligations, and best practices for maintaining privacy and security.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Strong legal research skills using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Proficiency in legal drafting and writing
- Experience in a law office environment
- Familiarity with various areas of law, including estate planning and law
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Relevant legal administrative experience
