Activities
- Direct the continual improvement of the refinery's basic and advanced control systems to ensure their applicability as operational production conditions change to keep the process units running at maximum profitability.
- Develop a close working relationship with Console Operators, Process Supervisors, Process Support Engineers and Planning & Logistics personnel to better understand operating objectives, major manipulated variables, disturbances and constraints. Use this information to identify potential APC opportunities.
- Provide APC consultation to other refinery work groups to ensure quality installations that meet refinery standards.
- Exchange information with other Total sites (US / Europe) on basic / advanced regulatory and advanced process control applications to share specialized knowledge to efficiently and effectively solve Total group control challenges.
- Continuously study, investigate and evaluate new automation technologies and techniques to determine their applicability in refinery applications.
- Train and develop interns and employees - promoting teamwork, open communications and technical excellence. Provide a high level of cross training that ensures that positions are adequately covered in times of absence of group members.
