Fire Sprinkler Designer
- Responsible for assisting administration of fire protection programs for the agency.
- Provides technical assistance to architects, contractors and other private industry personnel in interpreting and complying with fire codes and standards. Recommends changes in fire codes.
- Reviews construction site plans and building plans for compliance with fire protection codes and standards.
- Evaluates the fire resistance of building and structures.
- Determines whether water availability and water delivery systems are adequate to protect buildings.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes; works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Evaluates contractors’ performance in meeting agency requirements and objectives, interprets existing standards, develops new standards, reviews design documentation, and advises agency and contractor management regarding fire safety, property protection and public safety.
- Provides technical advice to contractors, architects and engineers while reviewing system plans, monitoring code information and conducting site inspections for new construction projects. Supervises professional-level staff, sworn and civilian, engaged in fire prevention duties.

Responsibilities
- Design fire suppression systems
- Prepare 2- and 3-dimensional construction documents using HydraCAD
- Coordinate design efforts working closely with customers, general contractors, and architects
Expertise
- Two years (2) design experience in water-based extinguishing systems
- Have a solid technical base with the desire to learn, lead, and grow professionally within the Company
- Thorough knowledge of State Building Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, and NFPA 20
- Proficient in AutoCAD, HydraCAD or AutoSprink, and Navisworks
- Knowledge of Hydraulic Calculations
- Ability to produce NFPA compliant submittal drawings
- NICET Certification is preferred
- Ability to site survey
- Must prioritize effectively, have good follow-through, and practice self-implemented quality control measures
- Must project manage, including forecasting manpower, tracking project hours, and listing appropriate material to achieve project tasks
- Able to communicate well in writing, as well as verbally
