What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Lead position at Total Group, LLC?
Only Experienced Controls Technician need apply. This full-time position requires a seasoned professional to lead in the design, installation and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems, primarily for new/retrofit projects to smaller-sized-scale projects. The individual must be well-rounded in mechanical DDC controls and able to develop a plan from start to finish for our customer’s various control needs. Experience in programming with at least one major control systems vendor is a must, Alerton is preferred but not necessary. Will provide training as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
- Provide quality control of systems from development and installation, striving for superior customer service.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current HVAC controls market; aligns work with strategic goals.
- Interface with technicians, project managers, internal departments, and external customers to properly
communicate the scope of work, work process flow, and project requirements to ensure correct systems installation
and performance is carried out.
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, construction documents, manuals,
and scope of work to determine the feasibility of design or application. Makes recommendations for optimum
performance and efficiency, including cost as needed.
- Generates creative solutions, from product specifications to modify designs, and demonstrates attention to detail.
- System-wide integration of BACnet and other Open Protocol systems.
- Speaks clearly and persuasively and is able to listen and get clarification on matters presented.
- Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
- Understands business implications of decisions and works towards profitability.
- Develops and implements cost-saving measures to contribute to profits and revenue while staying within budgets.
- Approaches others in a tactful manner. Reacts well under pressure, and treats others with respect and consideration.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions.
- Work hours 8 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. (Occasional over time)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Installation & commissioning of HVAC systems, or equivalent
- BAS applications
- Electrical or HVAC certification preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Familiar with MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Strong industry knowledge and experience
- Strong/consistent work ethic - timely follow-up, team-oriented, proactive, detail-oriented, and dependable.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
- Squatting or stooping, lifting of 25-75 pounds
- Reaching and the use of step ladders, extension ladders and lifts as needed to install control components.
