Job Summary
Reporting to the Facilities Manager and/or their designee, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for keeping the physical structure and associated equipment of the locations in good repair. This includes but is not limited to preventative, emergency, corrective and routine repairs in electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, plumbing and HVAC equipment. Responsibilities also include lamping and painting/carpenter duties as directed to maintain the interior and exterior physical structure of the building.  

Contacts and interactions vary and may involve multiple constituencies such as direct interaction with THC’s executive management, community organizers, the general public, THC’s patients, physicians, colleagues, assigned staff, vendors, contractors and consultants for the purpose of providing and exchanging information.

 
Example of Essential Job Functions 

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner as to reflect the highest integrity of the Maintenance Department
  • Maintain HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire/life safety and other associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems per the Preventative Maintenance schedule
  • Maintains records as required to ensure compliance with state and federal agencies and fire marshal regulations
  • Lamp all accessible areas of the location in a thorough and timely manner
  • Performs maintenance painting and carpenter repairs as prioritized by the Chief Facilities Engineer
  • Perform other tasks as assigned included but not limited to: caulking mirrors, reconfiguring doors, flooring repairs, and ceiling repairs
  • Work as assigned (day, evening, nights, weekends) and as required by emergency situations when directed by the Chief Facilities Engineer 

 

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required

A typical qualifying background is graduation from high school, or G.E.D. equivalent, and 1-2 years of general maintenance experience in the general building and facilities maintenance trades; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.        


 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of FQHC operations, operating principles, guidelines and bylaws. Excellent leadership, customer service, organizational and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate THC’s vision, and motivate others to achieve it organizationally, departmentally, and personally/professionally. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing). Ability to plan and organize work initiatives to successfully accomplish center/organizational goals and objectives. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate as appropriate. Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify, develop and implement short/long-term strategic goals and objectives. Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships; influence, build credibility and trust. Ability to think critically as well as apply critical thinking skills. Ability to: ensure and advocate for quality healthcare and services; and, lead and manage a diverse staff. 

 

Licenses and Certifications

 A valid Class C Maryland driver's license
