Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will manage and execute key accounting functions, working closely with the Controller and various departments such as Accounts Receivable, general ledgers, and others. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and assisting with audits, tax filings, and month-end closing processes. You will be a key player in maintaining the financial health and compliance of our rapidly growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and approve general journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
- Lead and execute the month-end close process.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Manage in-house payroll for multiple business units, ensuring accurate and timely payment of earnings.
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and safeguarding company assets.
- Coordinate all audit activities and prepare for external audits.
- Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger and coordinate submissions to the CPA.
- Ensure timely filing of property tax returns and collaborate with the Controller on income tax filings.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and lead special projects as directed by the Controller.
- Oversee W2, 1099, and 1095 preparation and remittance.
- Utilize Great Plains Accounting software for technical accounting functions and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BA/BS) is required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax (MA) is a plus.
- 5-10 years of accounting experience in financial reporting and month-end close.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory accounting requirements.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Great Plains Accounting software or similar ERP systems is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, growing environment.
