What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Total Plastic Solutions LLC?
This position is responsible for establishing processes and trouble shooting for new and inherited molding. Will conduct process optimization and monitoring on a continual improvement basis. Must complete and maintain accurate quality records, logs and notes. The Process Engineer works with the Quality Technician on every aspect of trialing new and existing molds. This position consults with Senior Process Engineers regarding processing and troubleshooting issues. Works collaboratively with Quality Technicians, Quality Leaders, Production Managers, Supervisors, Customer Response Specialist Planners, Quality Engineers and Project Engineers. This position is supervised by the Production Managers.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform necessary procedures (start-up, shut-down, processing, trouble shooting) for all types of presses on production floor.
Perform necessary procedures (start-up, shut-down, processing, trouble shooting) for all types of automation on production floor.
Process monitoring: developing criteria to be monitored and implemented.
Assist with mold setups as needed to maintain production schedules.
Complete all required documentation in production press folders.
Process optimization on a continuous improvement basis (Labor reduction, downtime reduction, cycle time improvement)
5S work areas after completion of press/automation related tasks.
Implement and improve processes with the expectation of lowering cost.
Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
Adhere to relevant requirements of International Standards to maintain company certification.
Related tasks as required by management.
Requirements for this role are as follows:
- Minimum 5 years of injection molding experience, 5 years of process development experience.
- Experience with engineering grade resins, and familiarity with microprocessor-controlled machines is required.
- Able to work flexible hours - including weekends and holidays as required, must own toolbox and tools.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
