What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Total Plastic Solutions?
The Production Manager is to oversee the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations, scheduling Senior Process Engineers, Set Up Technicians, Process Engineers, Jr. Process Engineers and Inventory Techs. The Production Manager is responsible for managing 3 shifts of employees: Senior Process Engineers, Supervisors, Set Up Technicians, Process Engineers, Jr. Process Engineers, Quality Leaders and Inventory Techs. Ensure and enforce all daily practices are to the current procedures and are being met on all of the criteria while maintaining product integrity . Comply to Total Plastic Solution policies, SOP, cGMP, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001 and AS9100 criteria. Review all daily reports, the main focus should be to reduce scrap, downtime and to meet Utilization KPI's and Scheduling KPI's. Ensure that all Inventory Techs are generating accurate end of shift reporting. The Production Manager works collaboratively with the Supervisors, Customer Response Specialist/Planners, Quality Department and Project Engineers. This position reports directly to the Production Director with daily shift reporting for important issues and clarifications.
· Manages the Shift Supervisors on all 3 shifts to maintain productivity and efficiency on the production floor.
· Manages the Set Ups, Processors on all 3 shifts to maintain productivity, efficiency and reduce downtime.
· Manages the Inventory Techs on all 3 shifts to maintain product is entered into IQMS in an efficient manner, while ensuring correct end of shift reporting.
· Review Department schedule, identifying needed inventory, and preparing the Department for daily objectives.
· Develop and provide employee training through written documentation and/or by direct example.
· Work closely with Customer Service to ensure that customer needs are met and exceed their expectations.
· Participate in investigating customer complaints, returns or internal part failures reviewing the daily reports.
· Team support and participation.
· Make sure all work is being done correctly instructing with proper tools (verbal, written, or corrective methods) to mentor the required response for company goals and guidelines to be followed for written manufacturing responsibilities.
· Monitor Shift Leaders and employee’s performance and development.
· Assign and/or ensure molding machines are started in a timely manner.
· Overall responsible for achieving performance goals (KPI's).
· Enforce and maintain 5S standards throughout the production floor.
· Manage Set Up Technicians, Jr. Processors and Process Engineers ensuring they are following frozen process procedures.
· Review cost vs. value report, to ensure we are meeting our goals.
· Press Utilization is to be at or above 60%, internal scrap 3.4%.
· Determine the amount of necessary labor needed to maintain 48 presses.
· Ensure output meets quality standards.
· Enforce company policies and procedures as needed through disciplinary action.
· Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement.
· Determine and implement improvements to the production process.
· Manage costs, implement cost control programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a high school diploma or GED, basic knowledge of quality principal's, ability to work with a computer, an understanding of measuring equipment, a good attitude, a desire to succeed and is not intimidated by confrontation. This person must conduct themselves with professionalism and decor when discussing quality issues whether it be to an Operator, Shift Leader, Manager, Director or Owner. A minimum of 10 years prior Supervisory/Management experience, intermediate mathematics and reading and writing skills. Organizational skills, ability to prioritize daily tasks and work as a team member. Have basic computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
