What You’ll Do:
- Supervise and develop staff.
- Work with Sr. Safety Manager and VP to establish KPIs for the Extended Coverage team. Regularly monitor and report on actual vs. targeted results.
- Administer programs and procedures to effectively monitor and manage Hours of Service compliance.
- Administer programs and procedures to effectively monitor and manage on-going driver qualifications, preventing lapses in required credentials.
- Oversee safety activity and interactions that occur after normal business hours. Maintain appropriate staffing at all times to satisfy the operational and driver-focused safety support needs.
- Administer disciplinary actions with drivers according to established protocols. Actions can include counseling, probation, suspension and/or termination.
- Administer after-hours DOT post-accident drug and alcohol testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Participate in industry associations and events to build beneficial relationships, expand industry knowledge, and maintain an awareness of changes and trends.
- Maintain regulatory expertise through independent study and participation in various industry events.
- Facilitate driver safety and compliance projects, as well as monitor progress on other departmental projects and priorities.
- Work with drivers and staff when safety/compliance issues need to be addressed.
- Monitor progress of drivers and staff who have been assigned additional training or performance improvement assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a two year degree
Experience
- 2 years of progressive experience in transportation safety-related positions.
- Experience in Transportation strongly preferred.
Skills/Certifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of DOT Regulations
