Position Summary/Objective
The Welder & Metal Fabricator is responsible for welding, cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to create and repair structures, equipment, and machinery. This role involves interpreting blueprints, setting up welding machines, and ensuring all fabricated components meet quality and safety standards. Will work with various metals, including steel, and aluminum, utilizing MIG and stick welding techniques.
The objective of this position is to produce high-quality metal components and structures that meet design specifications and safety regulations. Ensure efficiency and precision in fabrication, contributing to the overall productivity and success of the company. This role requires attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
· Perform MIG and stick welding on various metals, including steel, and aluminum.
· Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using welding, grinding, and other fabrication
techniques.
· Operate and maintain welding equipment, plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to determine specifications.
· Measure and mark metal pieces accurately before cutting or welding to ensure precision.
· Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet company standards and industry
regulations.
· Perform finishing operations such as grinding, polishing, and cleaning to achieve desired results.
· Identify and repair defects in welds and metal components as needed.
· Follow all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety
policies.
· Handle and store materials properly to prevent damage or workplace hazards.
· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding and fabrication equipment.
· Identify issues with tools and machines, reporting problems to maintenance or supervisors as
needed.
· Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and team members to ensure project deadlines and
specifications are met.
· Assist in developing fabrication methods to improve efficiency and product quality.
· Provide input on design modifications to enhance manufacturability and durability.
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including cutting, grinding, bending, and assembly.
· Experience with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures for precise
fabrication.
· Skilled in operating welding and fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, grinders, drill
presses, and brake presses.
· Ability to troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues, including material defects and equipment
malfunctions.
· Strong analytical skills to assess blueprints and develop the best fabrication approach.
· Attention to detail to ensure high-quality welds and structural integrity.
· Knowledge of workplace safety procedures, including PPE usage and fire prevention.
· Understanding of hazardous material handling and proper ventilation techniques.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to discuss specifications and report progress.
· Willingness to assist and mentor less-experienced welders or fabricators when needed.
· Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and accuracy.

Education & Experience
Essential Education:
· High School diploma or GED
· Certification in welding or metal fabrication from an accredited technical school or trade program.
Preferred Education:
· Prior experience using fabrication tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and press brakes is
preferred.
· Knowledge and/or certifications of welding codes and industry standards (AWS, ASME, or similar) is
beneficial.
Essential Experience:
· Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in welding and metal fabrication, preferably in a manufacturing
or industrial setting.
· Experience working with MIG and stick welding techniques.
· Hands-on experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
· Candidates with a combination of formal training and hands-on experience will be highly considered.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
