What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Assistant position at Total Vision Optometric Center, P.C.?
A small private optometry practice looking to hire an individual who is friendly, reliable, motivated, detail-oriented with great communication skills and strong customer service/sales experience for a full / Part time position. This includes working on Saturdays. Knowledge in vision plans is a plus. We only work with VSP and Eyemed. Previous optical experience is beneficial. However, we are willing to train if you are the right candidate and show willingness to learn and wants to pursue career in the optical field. Hourly wage based on experience.
Job tasks include but not limited to:
- Frame styling and eyeglass lens selection
- processing glasses and contact lens orders
- Dispensing eye glasses to patients.
- Frame adjustments and minor repairs
- Eyeglass inspections and verifications
- Performing preliminary testing using equipment
- Contact lens training
- Optical inventory management: contact lens trial lens inventory, helping with frame inventory
- Answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, data entry, scanning, and other office task
- Check eligibility of vision plan and pull medical insurance information. Ability to explain the benefits to patients.
- Patient check-in and check-out; accepting payments
- File eyeglass claims through the vision benefit online portal
- Edge lenses in house as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 37 per week
