What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floor Technician - Day Shift position at TOUCHETTE?
Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Every other weekend is required!
Job Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance of all floor areas, and for sustaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Functions and Duties:
- Maintain a neat and clean environment which is conducive to quality patient care and guest relations for Touchette Regional Hospital.
- have some exposure to Blood-borne Pathogens.
- Ability to make decisions independently.
- Participates in monthly department meetings, in-services and training programs.
- Supports hospital philosophy, mission objectives and personnel policies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Strips and waxes all floors in accordance with master floor care plan.
- Shampoos and maintains all facility carpets and upholstery.
- Shampoo and spot clean upholstery as needed.
- All associates will learn and apply the principles of regular discharges with a 45 30-minute turnaround from start to finish.
- All associates will learn and apply the principles of terminal and OR cleaning with a 55 min turnaround from start to finish.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 2 years of job related experience in floor care techniques preferred.
- Two years of Housekeeping Experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- None.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge on how to read MSDS SHEETS.
- Knowledge of Floor Care Techniques required.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand 4 to 8 hours.
- Must be able to transport heavy linen carts.
- Must have the ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to use all Floor Care Equipment.
- Must be able to stand extreme temperatures.
- Medium work; exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to10 pounds consistently to move object.
- Required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
- Mentally able to understand and carry out oral and written commonsense instructions.
