Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Position Requirements:
Ability to observe discrepancies in procedure and equipment and communicate such in a professional and intelligent manner;
Ability to work in an environment with older adults;
Demonstrate extensive carpet care experience;
Patient and tactful when dealing with residents, family members, volunteers, visitors, physicians, staff from other departments, and the general public;
Willingness to perform a variety of repetitive tasks;
Willingness to accept training for procedures specific to this department;
Willingness to accept supervision and direction from supervisor and to work as a part of a team;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to get along with co-workers, demonstrate integrity and express a positive attitude and a sense of humor;
Demonstrate proper lifting techniques at all times;
Willingness to perform other tasks that may be assigned;
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations relating to janitorial practices and safety of residents and staff;
Willingness to work holidays and weekends.
Experience working as a housekeeper in the hospitality, medical, or retirement industry.

Able to maintain patient and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members, and visitors.
Essential Functions:
Ability to read and write English in order to follow and give oral and written instruction;
Must be able to complete required paperwork and filing with a high degree of accuracy;
Physically capable of turning, stooping, bending, stretching, moving equipment, and performing other related tasks;
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds;
After receiving the appropriate training, must be able to operate standard equipment for janitorial tasks.
Position Responsibilities: Including, but not limited to the following:
Wet, dust mop, and vacuum all halls of facility, as well as common areas (i.e.: lobby, atrium, nursing stations, etc.);
Wash windows on the first floor of the common areas inside and out;
Vacuum and extract carpets on the stairs;
Keep area within three feet of the building free of trash and litter, and sweep all entries;
Strip and wax floors and extract carpets according to schedule maintained by supervisor;
Assist with moving furniture in common areas (ie: for special events) only when directed by supervisor;
Wash walls and baseboards as needed;
Keep supervisor apprised of all changes in equipment performance and of the need for supplies;
Attend mandatory meetings of housekeeping department and all facility meetings;
Demonstrate proper infection control techniques at all times;
Responsible to work while under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. Must demonstrate, at all times, cooperative behavior with co-workers and supervisors;
Perform all other duties, as assigned by supervisor, with a positive attitude.
Standards of Performance:
All state regulations and company policies are met to provide high standards of cleanliness and sanitation;
List or duties completed in allotted time frame and with quality expected;
No written complaints from residents, guests, or staff;
No visible dust or litter in corridors, stairwells and common areas;
Burnt out light bulbs/fixtures will be replaced within 24 hours.
Working Conditions: Work in a contemporary, multi-level, Continuous Care Retirement Community that has a mission of promoting dignity and growth for Residents and staff while providing a clean environment for our Residents. The offices are well lighted, heated and ventilated. Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping intermittently is normal. You will be dealing with the public, personnel, visitors, family members and the Residents under all conditions. Potential hazards may include minor cuts, burns, strains, sprains, pulls or slipping on floor when wet or cluttered. Must be able to walk the full extent of the campus. Position is subject to frequent interruptions.
Pay: $17.50 and up!
