Job Summary

As an Assistant Director of Environmental Services I, you are responsible for assisting the Director in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the housekeeping department at a hospital. You will coordinate the tasks of the EVS operations managers. You will serve as a liaison between administration and departments and provide the highest possible level of service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all EVS staff in accordance with established policies and procedures of the hospital
  • Plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are rendered to all areas
  • Conducts interviews, assists in making hiring decisions, evaluates performance, and administers disciplinary action when necessary
  • Orients, trains, develops and supervises EVS managers and frontline housekeeping associates
  • Performs regular inspections and evaluations of the facility; ability to recommend action items; assists with relocations within the facility
  • Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities
  • Schedules major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available
  • Conducts regular inventory of housekeeping supplies
  • Assists Department Director with budgets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of management experience
  • Environmental services or housekeeping experience preferably in a hospital or healthcare related environment
  • Excellent customer services skills and experiences
  • Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations and a fast paced environment
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to follow-through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • T-CHEST and/or T-CNACC certifications are a plus
