As a key member of our culinary team, the Lead Cook plays a vital role in preparing and cooking all food as requested by members and guests. This includes overseeing other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Set up workstations with necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Prepare ingredients for use in cooking (chopping, peeling, cutting, etc.).
- Adhere to recipe specifications to deliver consistent flavors and presentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory of food products and ingredients.
- Communicate menu changes and daily specials to servers and other team members.
- Monitor production levels to meet demand and minimize waste.
- Ensure proper ticket/menu reading to guarantee accurate orders.
- Present dishes attractively before serving to enhance the dining experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
- Store food and other items properly to extend shelf life and prevent spoilage.
- Check the quality of ingredients and report any concerns to management.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders when necessary to avoid shortages.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the team and achieve business objectives.
Requirements:
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk, and crouch.
- Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs., lift overhead, push/pull, and move lighter objects.
- Exposure to chemicals used in typical cleaning supplies.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Qualifications:
- Required State food handling certification.
- Some cooking experience preferred.
