Janitor/Maintenance Worker

Not your typical janitor & maintenance position! Our farm offers an opportunity to work outside, and inside, over a wide array of projects and responsibilities - never the same day twice! As a member of our Farm Family you will provide guests with a comfortable, safe and clean environment across all aspects of the farm. We are a hard working but fun group of people looking to welcome another member to our team.

What will you do as a Farm Custodian?

• Cleaning, Sanitizing & Maintaining Restrooms
• Maintaining picnic area by cleaning picnic tables, picking up dropped trash, leaf blowing, sweeping concrete and maintaining the tables with any fixes or painting needed
• Maintain the janitor's closet in a clean, tidy and organized manner and order supplies as needed
• Playground maintenance including picking up dropped trash, inspecting and fixing hazards such as loose nails or splinters, painting and any other maintenance to keep the play structures safe, good looking and in good working order
• Assist with barnyard animals which may include cleaning and filling water troughs, moving animals from pasture to pasture, feeding, maintaining fencing and providing repairs as needed
• Unload and putting away all types of orders and deliveries for the farm.
• Assist with maintaining the farm buildings as needed, including painting, gutter cleaning (all low buildings), light stringing, screen and or ac installation, etc
• Pest management including but not limited to: mouse trap setting and disposing, yellow jacket and wasp removal
• Assist in stocking store, grill shack, tent and donut hut refrigerators
• Water and maintain all flower planters. If desired you could plant them as well
• Assist the kitchen and service staff by breaking down cardboard
• Trash Can disposal and maintenance. Keep the trash emptied and with fresh bags throughout the day. Maintain the wooden trash covers to be in good working order
• Parking Lot maintenance with litter pick up, fence repairs and if needed, assist with parking

Company Description

Tougas Family Farm is a 2nd generation fruit farm offering pick-your-own strawberries, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches, nectarines, apples, and pumpkins. Centrally located between Worcester and Boston, the farm is a popular destination for family outings, field trips, and corporate events. The farm is open seasonally June through November, and special holiday hours in December.

Along with the pick-your-own experience, the Farm Store and Kitchen offer a unique shopping experience with seasonal baked goods, Cider donuts, fruit slush, ice cream, light lunch items, gift items and more!

Qualifications

• Proven janitorial and custodial experience in commercial settings
• Strong cleaning skills, including floor care and buffing
• Familiarity with facilities maintenance and industrial cleaning practices
• Experience in kitchen environments is a plus
• Ability to perform residential painting and maintenance tasks
• Knowledge of porter duties and responsibilities
• Ability to self-direct

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
