Job Title: Landscape Apprentice
Job Summary:
The Landscape Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the design, installation, and maintenance of landscaping projects. This is an entry-level position where the apprentice will receive on-the-job training and development in areas such as horticulture, landscape design, equipment use, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with Landscape Design:
- Help with the preparation and planning of landscape projects, including planting, mulching, and hardscaping (paving, retaining walls).
- Landscaping Installations:
- Help install sod, plants, shrubs, and trees
- Assist with hardscaping, such as the installation of walkways, patios, and other outdoor features.
- Assist with installation of Irrigation Systems
- Assist in building a variety of fences
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance, such as mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing debris from sidewalks and driveways.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate various landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.) under supervision.
- Operate trucks with trailers (training provided)
- Operate and maintain use of skid steer and walk behind skid steer with various attachments
- Maintain equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Learning and Development:
- Participate in training to gain knowledge of plant species, landscape design principles, safety procedures, and best practices in the landscaping industry.
- Seek guidance and feedback from experienced professionals to improve skills and knowledge.
- Customer Service:
- Assist with communication with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and attention to detail in landscaping projects.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines, use protective gear, and adhere to company policies and regulations regarding landscaping work.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Skills: Basic understanding of landscaping tools and techniques (or willingness to learn), strong work ethic, ability to follow instructions.
- Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Prior landscaping experience is a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Requires some flexibility in working hours.
- 4 Day work weeks (10 hour days)
