Hourly (Non-Exempt) Full-Time & Seasonal Full-time (AM Shifts)

We are a small, fun, and engaging group looking to grow our BOH kitchen team for the upcoming summer season. We are looking for passionate, curious, and hardworking line people looking to either begin or develop their cooking skills. We strongly encourage people of all skill levels and backgrounds to apply. About us:

TOURISTS is a 48-room hotel that opened in 2018 in North Adams, MA, a resurgent town in the Berkshires and a trailhead for New England’s history, art, food, music, and exploration. TOURISTS’ name is drawn from the history of the Mohawk Trail, America’s first scenic byway and the road on which the hotel now sits. When the route first opened in 1914, local restaurants, shops, attractions, and inns along the road promoted themselves to travelers by hanging a sign bearing the single word “TOURISTS.” Chef Ty Hatfield a veteran of Momofuku, Morimoto, Google, and Cru in NYC is now operating the kitchens at Tourists bringing his broad food expertise and knowledge to the Berkshires.

Essential Functions

• An open mind and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable handling a knife. 
• Cooking/preparing foods using standardized recipes.
• Willing to keep a high level of cleanliness and safety in work areas. 
• Maintaining equipment in good, safe working condition. 
• Complying with food safety regulations.
• Keeping abreast of and complying with safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements.

Competencies

• 1. Ability to learn and use the terminology of a commercial kitchen
• 2. Demonstrate ability to understand portion control, knife skills, plating, execution of a recipe.
• 3. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced meal service. 
• 4. Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• 5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or relevant trade school training

1. Capacidad para aprender y usar la terminología de una cocina comercial.

2. Demostrar habilidad para entender el control de porciones, habilidades con cuchillos, buena presentación de platos, ejecución de una receta.

3. Capacidad para realizar múltiples tareas en un servicio de comidas de ritmo rápido.

4. Capacidad para hablar, leer, escribir y comprender el idioma principal del lugar de trabajo.

5. Capacidad para leer y comprender documentos tales como reglas de seguridad, instrucciones de operación y mantenimiento y manuales de procedimientos.
