Overview :
The Assistant or Associate Professor works with the Program Chair to design and teach program courses ensuring overall program effectiveness. The individual is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and advises and supervises masters-degree candidates, actively participates in faculty collaborative learning, and demonstrates scholarly productivity.
Responsibilities :
- Designs, revises, and teaches graduate courses in Touro College GSE Teaching Students with Disabilities Grades 7-12 Generalist Programs
- Maintains knowledge of current middle and high school curricula (Regents and other) including mathematics
- Experience with assessment and effective teaching methodologies for students with special needs utilizing a variety of instructional delivery methods instructional and assistive technologies and educational resources for educational equity and access
- Supports candidate work, related to the intersection of multilingualism and special education
- Supervises candidates during clinical practice
- Serves as an instructional leader, facilitating and participating with collaborative faculty teams, course revisions, and developing and sustaining the transformative pedagogy in graduate teaching and learning
- Builds and maintains clinical partnerships with schools and 7-12 mentors, and contributes to the development of a clinically-rich teacher education preparation program
- Provides academic advisement to program candidates and outreach to potential candidates
- Maintains a current record of scholarly activities and publications as well as professional service
- Serves on Graduate School of Education committees
- Supports and contributes to program level continuous improvement for national / professional accreditation
- Engages in successful grant writing
- Upholds the missions and values of Touro College and the GSE
- Performs other duties as assigned
