What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Medical Education Specialist position at Touro University New York?
Overview:
The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Specialist will work closely with Clinical Dean and Director of Clinical Education in both Harlem & Middletown locations of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) and will report directly to the Executive Dean. The GME Specialist will visit Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine’s affiliate hospitals, ensuring that Touro’s residency programs are aptly supported and expand Touro’s existing network of hospitals for residency partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Clinical Dean & Director of Clinical Education, explores opportunities to support the continuum of osteopathic education in both undergraduate and graduate medical education (GME), as well as in continuing medical education (for all GME faculty) at clinical affiliates or other clinical institutions.
- Gather data, develop reports, and monitor residency assignments to support the development and review of GME programming.
- Management of GME Annual Review Process for the Institution and its programs.
- Develop and implement GME “Best Practice” resources.
- Assist TouroCOM leadership with the development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services structured to achieve high-quality outcomes for residency and fellowship programs.
- Assist with the design and implementation of various professional development activities for faculty and staff to support the leaders of the ACGME-accredited, GME programs thereby assisting them in meeting their goals as well as internal and external benchmarks for excellence.
- Assist in the development of successful wellbeing programs for the GME trainees.
- Develop a professional development plan for junior faculty engaged in GME program leadership.
- Collaborate with other departments (i.e. Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs, etc.) to enhance and promote mutual advantages across the continuum of medical education.

Education/ Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience required.
- Master's Degree or higher terminal degree is a plus.
- Experience with graduate medical education programs preferred.

- Strong organizational & prioritization skills.
- Ability to learn the functions of the academic departments and their individual courses offered.
- Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
- Ability to work on various, multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
Travel
- Local travel to clinical sites in the NYC metropolitan area on a regular/weekly basis; occasion travel to mid-distance clinical sites (i.e. Upstate New York, Pennsylvania).
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Occasional national travel for conferences.
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
