General Description:
- Responsible for assisting patients in retail optical purchases, adjustments and repairs.
Summary of Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assists patients in a timely fashion with frame selection, lens choices, lens coatings, sunglasses and other goods related to eyes to suite client needs.
- Measure customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription
- Prepares orders, paperwork, etc. in such a fashion that results in accurate orders, no remakes and satisfied patients.
- Reviews warranties, return policies, etc. with clients.
- Measure clients’ bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes using measuring devices.
- Adjusts frames and completes frame repairs to patient satisfaction.
- Stays current of optical plans accepted, obtains prior authorization for hardware when they have not already been obtained, collects payments, completes receipt for patient and follows appropriate policy to record transaction.
- Makes sure optical department is opened on time and closed after all patients are seen.
- Posts sales daily and in a complete manner – all monies to be balanced daily and given to accounts payable for deposit.
- Participates in physical inventories.
- Conforms to all company policies and procedures including punctuality, attendance and dress codes.
- Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
- Takes pride and ownership in success and image of Tower Clock Eye Center.
- Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
- Uses excellent guest relations skills in all interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Maintains personal notes on insurance companies and coverages, ordering/payment policies, compliance, etc.
- Greets patients promptly and professionally. Builds sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication and by going the extra mile.
- Resolve problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; escalating unresolved problems to appropriate person when needed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and communicates with the compliance officer regarding procedural changes and concerns.
- Participates in professional development efforts to remain current on insurance coverages and regulation matters
- Cooperates and communicates with all staff members and physicians about patient matters. Provides management with perception of physician office practice services.

Minimum Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- A.B.O. certification a plus
- Successful completion of A.B.O certification requirements within 18 months of employment
Minimum Background Requirements:
- Two years of work experience with dispensing optician duties and skills are necessary.
- Experience in health care setting is preferred.
