Gathering, screening, communicating, and acting based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse or Licensed Practical nurse as per scope of practice is a key aspect of this role.
This position involves performing a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties, including:
- Greeting patients
- Answering telephones
- Scheduling appointments
- Updating patients' electronic medical record (EMR)
- Rooming patients
- Taking medical histories
- Performing and recording vital signs
- Preparing exam room for procedures
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Facilitating patient flow through the office
- Assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations
This role requires a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Complete and maintain all competencies and trainings as required for the role
- Hold a High School Diploma, GED, or Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
- Lack experience is acceptable, but certification and licensure are mandatory
Certification and Licensure:
- BLS Certification
- Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval
