Middle School Social Emotional Learning Teacher
Tower Hill School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of part time Middle School Social Emotional Learning Teacher beginning in August of 2025. Tower Hill delivers a CASEL aligned curriculum that allows students to acquire the essential social and emotional skills necessary for academic success and personal growth. We teach age-appropriate content that helps students to build their emotional recognition and regulation, sound social awareness, healthy decision making, and prosocial relationship skills. The ideal candidate will have a psychology, counseling, or health-related background, a strong sense of child development, and relevant experience in the teaching of social emotional skills or related content. In addition, the candidate should have the collaborative skills to work with a group of dedicated, talented colleagues, be familiar with current best practices and pedagogy, and possess a strong sense of responsibility for the success and wellbeing of every student.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach Social Emotional Learning foundation classes to students in grades 5 - 8
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to develop age-appropriate curriculum and schoolwide programming that advances the goals of the SEL department
- Promote an environment of safety and acceptance wherein students feel comfortable with self reflection and open sharing
- Deliver an engaging content and instruction to students with passion and a willingness to help students learn and grow
- Support diversity, inclusion, and equity in their teaching
- Differentiate plans for individual students based on their unique learning profiles so that all students are engaged and challenged
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or above in Psychology, Health Education, or a related field
- Interest in teaching middle school aged students, growth mindset, and a willingness to engage in self-reflective teaching practice
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
- Commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of students
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
- Enthusiasm for professional growth, academic excellence, and creative teaching
- Ability to plan and organize educational content
