About the Role: The Safety Assistant is responsible for managing the
organization’s workers’ compensation claims, conducting thorough accident
investigations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, developing strategies
to minimize workplace accidents and incidents, and providing data entry support.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills,
excellent communication abilities, and an understanding of our safety protocols.

Reports to: Health and Safety Manager
Hourly Rate: $20
Key Responsibilities:
● Workers’ Compensation Claims Management
○ Handle all aspects of workers’ compensation claims, including intake,
processing, and tracking.
○ Coordinate with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and
employees to ensure timely and accurate processing of claims.
○ Monitor the progress of claims and work to resolve any issues that
arise, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes.○ Maintain up-to-date records of all claims and related documentation.
● Accident Investigation
○ Conduct thorough investigations of workplace accidents and incidents
to determine the root cause.
○ Interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and gather evidence
to create comprehensive reports.
○ Provide recommendations to prevent future accidents and improve
workplace safety.
○ Collaborate with department heads and safety teams to implement
corrective actions.
○ Coordinate and handle traffic tickets and citations.
● Policy Implementation
○ Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures
in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
○ Conduct inspections and audits; Perform regular safety inspections
and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
○ Accident Investigation; Investigate accidents, incidents, and unsafe
conditions, and implement corrective measures.
● Safety and Compliance
○ Ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local
safety regulations.
○ Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures to
promote a safe working environment.
○ Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential
hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
○ Organize and conduct safety training programs for employees to raise
awareness and educate them on best practices.
● Risk Management
○ Analyze trends in workplace accidents and injuries to identify
potential risks and areas for improvement.○ Develop and implement risk management strategies to reduce the
occurrence of workplace injuries and accidents.
○ Collaborate with management to create and maintain a safety-focused
culture within the organization.
○ Provide training sessions for employees on safety practices and
regulatory requirements.
● Reporting and Documentation
○ Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, insurance
companies, and organizational leadership.
○ Using Electronic Logging Device, which is a technology that
automatically records a truck driver’s driving time and other aspects
of their hours-of-service records.
○ Maintain accurate records of all safety and compliance activities,
including training sessions, audits, and accident investigations.
○ Provide regular updates to management on the status of claims, safety
initiatives, and compliance efforts.
○ Record Keeping; Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents
and propose preventative measures.
● Learning Gatekeeping
○ Recording driving data: Tracks driving time, miles driven, location,
and engine hours.
○ Monitor HOS compliance: Ensuring drivers comply with federal
regulations.
○ Improve Fleet Management: Help improve safety, efficiency, and
productivity.
○ Reduce Paperwork: Eliminate the need for paper logs.
○ Prevent Fatigue Accidents: Help prevent accidents caused by driver
fatigue.
○ Promote Uniform Safety Standards: Encourage an equal playing field
among all workers.
General Skills & Qualifications:● Strong Leadership and team management skills.

● Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10 & 20.
● Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
● Must have an active driver’s license and be approved on the company’s
insurance.
● Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
● Able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance as needed.
Benefits:
● Medical, dental, and vision benefits are provided through Thatch’s ICHRA,
starting on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.
● Paid time off is accrued weekly from the first week of work but cannot be
used until after completing 90 days of employment. Eligible employees are
required to provide ample notice and get HR/Managerial approval prior to
using paid vacations.
● $40 personal phone reimbursement eligibility depending on position will be
issued monthly.
Communication Channels:

● Microsoft teams; for internal communication between employees.Technology:
● Stay updated on technological advancements and utilize company tools and
resources effectively.
● Preferred intermediate knowledge on all Microsoft Applications including,
but not limited to, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
● Preferred knowledge of ELD Software: (Electronic Logging Device)
● Familiar with the following applications: Motive, Geotab, V erizon, Samsara,
and JJ Keller.
● Understanding of or willing to learn how to manage the Quartey drug and
alcohol program.
● General Knowledge of the Uber Application, and its functions.
● General to Proficient knowledge of ADP depending on job position.
● Be able to quickly learn new apps, software, and dashboards adopted and
used within the company.
● Abide by the company’s cybersecurity policies.
